Privacy Policy

This policy explains what ScentAI collects, why, and who else sees it. The short version: we collect what the app needs to make a recommendation, and we do not sell it.

What we collect

• Account — the email address or sign-in identifier from Apple, Google or email registration, and an account identifier.
• Your collection — the fragrances you add, your notes, ratings, wear history and the occasions you record.
• Approximate location — coordinates are used to fetch local weather for the recommendation. We do not store a history of where you have been.
• Membership status — whether a subscription is active, and its expiry, recorded from a receipt signed by Apple.

We do not collect payment card details. Apple handles payment; we never see your card.

Why we use it

To score your collection and produce a recommendation, to write the commentary a member receives, to answer concierge questions about your own bottles, to keep a record you can review and correct, and to know what your membership entitles you to.

Who else processes it

• Apple — sign-in and subscription purchases.
• Google Firebase — authentication.
• Anthropic — the language model that writes the commentary and concierge replies. The bottles and context relevant to the request are sent so it can answer.
• Weather providers — coordinates are sent to retrieve a forecast.
• Fragrance catalog providers — queried for notes and imagery. Personal data is not sent.
• Railway — hosting.

These parties process data on our behalf to provide the service. We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for advertising.

How long we keep it

Your collection and history are kept while your account exists. Deleting your account from the Profile screen removes them. Records we must keep for tax or accounting reasons — for example proof of a purchase — are retained as the law requires.

Your choices

• Delete your account, and the data with it, from Profile.
• Turn off location permission in iOS Settings. The app still works; it falls back to a default location for weather.
• Ask us for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct or erase it, by writing to the address below. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to complain to a regulator.

Security and children

Data is sent over encrypted connections and access is limited to what is needed to run the service. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. ScentAI is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app.
